Frenchbeer Farm
Tucked away in the breathtaking landscape of Dartmoor National Park, Frenchbeer Farm is a true testament to traditional, organic farming.

For more than 30 years, the Malseed family has tended their 1,200-acre hill farm near Chagford, raising hardy cattle, sheep, and their now-famous heritage-breed turkeys. Frenchbeer Farm operates under full organic certification, meaning that every animal is reared to the highest welfare standards, with freedom to roam, forage naturally, and grow at a natural pace.

Life on a Dartmoor hill farm is no easy task, with the land exposed to all the seasons can throw at it. But for John, this is more than just farming – it’s a way of life. His organic approach ensures that his animals live as nature intended, with open pastures, fresh air, and a natural diet. The Malseeds even grow their own organic oats, supplementing their turkeys’ diet alongside organic feed.

John’s dedication to organic farming makes him an invaluable part of our community, and we’re proud to offer his exceptional produce at The Organic Butchery. His commitment to sustainable farming not only results in better meat but also supports a thriving ecosystem, preserving the land for future generations.

Fossmere Farm
At Fossmere Farm, Ross has built a reputation for raising some of the finest organic poultry in Devon, with a particular focus on slow-grown, free-range geese.

Nestled in the rolling countryside of the Blackdown Hills, Fossmere Farm is the perfect setting for organic poultry to thrive. Ross has been farming poultry here for over two decades, ensuring that every bird is raised with the highest standards of welfare and care. His geese are reared from chicks, given plenty of space to roam, and fed an organic diet that allows them to develop rich, deep flavorus naturally.

At The Organic Butchery, we believe that great meat comes from animals that have been raised well, and Ross’s geese are a perfect example of this philosophy. With their free-range lifestyle, access to natural forage, and the careful attention Ross provides, these birds are a true reflection of what organic farming should be.

By choosing meat from farmers like John and Ross, you’re not just buying high-quality organic produce - you’re supporting a farming tradition that values sustainability, respects the land, and prioritizes animal welfare.

We’re proud to work with farmers who share our ethos, and we invite you to experience the incredible difference that organic, ethically raised meat can make.
