Wild Haddock Fillets

A fish-and-chip favourite!

When great flavour combines with tender flakiness, it's easy to see why haddock is a long-standing favourite amongst us Brits. Part of the cod family, but not just a cod substitute, haddock has greater delicacy of both taste and texture than its much-loved big brother, and is versatile enough to carry off a broad range of accompaniments, from creamy to spicy, herby to citrus. And, of course, there's no beating haddock deep fried in super-crisp batter and served with vinegar-splashed chips. Our tummies are rumbling just thinking of it.

The Fish Society uses traditional fishing methods to source the finest quality fish, freezing it at peak freshness to ensure it tastes just as good at home as it would cooked fresh in the harbour. Their ‘fresher than fresh’ guarantee ensures that every meal is packed with flavour and quality. Traditionally caught in the  North Atlantic and are frozen within hours of capture.

Haddock is commonly found throughout the North Atlantic, favouring deep, cold water where it lives in extensive shoals and feeds on shellfish. One of the 'big five' most commonly eaten fish in the UK, it's important to be sure that you're buying your haddock from sustainable sources. We source our fish from fishermen who harvest seafood sustainably they don't take undersized fish, don't fish for haddock alone and avoid fishing when the fish are spawning.

Baked, grilled, fried or poached, haddock is quick and easy to cook. Leave the skin on if you want it to hold its shape. For a really quick and simple supper, dust the haddock with seasoned plain flour and fry in just a spritz of oil until it's cooked through and starting to brown on the outside, add the juice of a lemon, some capers and a handful of chives and parsley to the pan. Bubble briefly before serving with crushed new potatoes and seasonal greens.
