When choosing meat to purchase, it is worth carrying out some research. There are a number of studies that suggest organic meat is a healthier option – higher in Omega 3, Amino Acids and Healthy Fats. There are also several other reasons why choosing organic meat is a good idea. They range from the contribution of organic farming to climate change, animal welfare and the use of pesticides and medicines used in the farming of conventional animals having a detrimental effect on our health.

Meat from butchers can be anything from farm assured meat through to the highest standard of meat, organic, with many other systems of rearing animals in between, such as outdoor reared, grass fed and free range. At The Organic Butchert all our meat is organic and butchered by our expert team. We approach butchery with a whole-carcass perspective. That means when our butchers start working, their intention is always to make the most of the carcass, from head to hoof. We don't believe in wasting anything, so they have to be sure that the cuts they produce make the best use of the animal and are what people want to buy.

Organic meat comes from animals that have been reared in accordance to strictly governed, regulated and inspected rules and procedures. At The Organic Butchery, all organic products have been certified organic by the Soil Association. The decision to work with the Soil Association was a no brainer as they demand some of the most stringent standards in the world of farming and food production. This ensures that the quality of everything carrying the Soil Association stamp is impeccable. Animal welfare is the top priority when rearing organic animals, only natural pesticides can be used, and GM ingredients are not permitted. Livestock live free range lives, meaning they can roam and forage as nature intended and we believe that happy animals make the highest quality meat.

Organic meat, in our opinion tastes better than conventionally farmed meat. Organic meat truly tastes how meat should taste, full of ‘meaty’ flavour as a result of a natural diet, free of chemicals and hormones and a slow growth to full maturity. Sadly, we have become accustomed to the bland offerings of mass-produced meat but when you taste organic meat you will never go back to the flavourless stuff again.
