Organic Turkey Breast

All of the flavour, just boned and rolled for zero fuss!

For fans of white meat (as well as fans of hassle-free cooking) The Organic Butchery Turkey Breast is just the ticket. Our butchers have carefully removed both breasts from the turkey carcass leaving no bones behind and rolled them into one delicious joint. That makes cooking straightforward and carving a doddle. We've left the skin on to keep the joint moist as it cooks and give you the lovely contrasting texture of crispy skin and tender, juicy meat.

If your guests love the brown meat of the turkey we have organic turkey legs too!

How To Cook An Organic Turkey Breast

How To Store

Please Note: If you plan to purchase a turkey before December 18th, please remember to store it in the freezer until you’re ready to cook it. Properly freezing your turkey will ensure it stays fresh and flavourful for your Festive celebrations.

Remove the Turkey Crown from its wrapping. Place the Turkey Crown onto a wire rack and sit the rack on a plate.

Pop the plate into the bottom of the fridge, making sure you have allowed space around the bird for the air to circulate. It is really important to make sure your bird stays cold and dry and must be kept refrigerated below 3°C.

Thawing:
If your roast is frozen, planning for proper thawing is important to ensure even cooking and food safety. For best results, allow 24 hours of thawing time in the refrigerator for every 2.5 kg of meat. For this means you should allow approximately 2 to 3 days for the roast to thaw in the fridge fully.

Here are a few additional tips to ensure your roast thaws properly:

  • Keep it in the original packaging while thawing to prevent any potential contamination or mess from leaking juices.
  • Place the roast on a tray or in a shallow dish to catch any liquid that might escape as it defrosts.
  • Ensure your refrigerator stays at or below 4°C

Avoid thawing the roast on the countertop at room temperature, as this can lead to uneven thawing.

The Organic Butchery turkeys are all reared in an organic, outdoor properly free-range farming system. We've chosen our turkeys because for us it's a distinctive flavour and even distribution of meat across the carcass we are looking for, which means our birds are grown slowly to 24 weeks. Turkeys eat a natural diet and their active lifestyle means they have strong muscles and robust skeletons. Once slaughtered, we hang the carcasses for at least 7 days. This allows the meat to mature and flavours to intensify.

  • Freezing is the most natural way of preserving food. And as here at The Organic Butchery we believe in slow-grown, healthy food, a form of preservation that doesn’t need artificial additives gets a big tick from us.

It also guarantees it will arrive with you in tiptop condition - confidently delivering fresh meat would be much more challenging.

  • At The Organic Butchery, we source our chicks from an organic breeding flock in the South West, this means they are certified organic from birth. We never use antibiotics on our chickens because our organic farming system provides a natural environment for our birds to thrive without the need for preventative medication: room to roam, a naturally foraged balanced diet, clean water and high hygiene standards.

If you cannot find the answer to your question and would like to speak to someone contact us and we will be happy to help.

Cooking your organic turkey breast is really straightforward, but make sure you remember it'll take less time than a whole bird. Being careful with your timing will ensure you get a really succulent piece of meat.

  1. Remove your bird from the fridge two hours before cooking allowing it to get to room temperature
  2. Preheat your oven to 230°C/ 210°C fan
  3. Sprinkle the turkey breast with salt and pepper and place in a deep bottomed roasting tray breast side down, cover loosely with tin foil
  4. Cook the turkey breast at this temperature for the first 20-60 minutes depending on size, before reducing the heat to 190°C/ 170°C fan for the remaining time
  5. Roast for approximately 45 minutes per kg
  6. Everyone loves crispy skin, so remove your foil and turn your turkey breast on its back for the last 20-30 minutes of roasting time
  7. Remove from the oven, cover loosely with foil and rest well before carving - to test when your turkey breast is done, pierce the thickest part of the thigh and check that the juices run clear (if you've got a thermometer, aim to remove the joint when it reaches an internal temperature of about 70°C)
  8. Whilst resting, pour the juices from your roasting tray into a saucepan and reduce over a high heat to make the most delectable jus
